Development Engineer | Local Government Contract | Immediate Start We are currently seeking an experienced Development Engineer to join a local government organisation within Tasmania. Position Overview Location: Southern Tasmania (Local Government Authority) Duration: 4-5 months Working Days: Monday to Friday Start: Immediate / as soon as available Key Responsibilities Assess development applications, engineering plans, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation Provide engineering advice across roads, stormwater, traffic, earthworks, servicing, and infrastructure integration Liaise with developers, consultants, government authorities, and internal stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle Prepare and review engineering-related permit conditions, technical reports, and professional recommendations Support development assessment processes, compliance activities, and infrastructure handover within statutory timeframes Ideal Candidate Requirements Degree-qualified Civil Engineer or related discipline Proven experience in development engineering, ideally within a local government environment Strong understanding of development assessment processes, civil infrastructure, and relevant legislation Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders Highly organised, self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities independently What’s on Offer Local government contract opportunity with immediate start Competitive hourly rate (commensurate with experience) + superannuation Exposure to a wide range of development engineering projects Supportive and professional working environment #J-18808-Ljbffr
