We are partnering with a leading global financial institution with an aggressive technology agenda, driving innovation across banking and asset management. Their Technology Legal team is a high-performing group that delivers strategic legal advice and execution support on complex, high-value technology transactions. The successful candidate will partner closely with business units to enable cutting‑edge initiatives, from negotiating SaaS and cloud agreements to advising on generative AI applications in financial services, while proactively managing legal, regulatory, and commercial risks. The Role Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of technology agreements, including SaaS, cloud services, software licensing, and regulated outsourcing contracts—ensuring alignment with internal policies and key regulations (e.g., APRA, privacy laws). Provide practical legal advice to technology, digital, and business teams on vendor procurement, cloud migrations, fintech partnerships, and other technology initiatives—balancing commercial objectives with robust risk management. Lead negotiations, variations, and renewals with major technology vendors; escalate material regulatory or compliance issues where required. Collaborate with risk, compliance, procurement, and IT stakeholders to assess and mitigate legal risks in new technology solutions and third‑party arrangements. Contribute to the development and refinement of standard templates, playbooks, and negotiation positions for common technology contracts to drive efficiency. Monitor evolving regulatory developments in financial services technology (cyber, data protection, outsourcing) and support implementation of necessary contract or control updates. Ideal Candidate 3-5 years PQE, ideally gained in a mid or top‑tier law firm and/or in‑house technology/legal role. Strong experience negotiating and advising on technology contracts (SaaS, cloud, licensing, outsourcing); financial services sector experience is highly valued but not essential—candidates with relevant tech/commercial experience in other regulated or complex industries will be considered. Exceptional attention to detail, commercial acumen, and risk awareness. Highly organised and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple complex matters concurrently.
