About the Role The Honourable Chief Justice Richard Niall is looking for a legally qualified individual to be his Associate. The successful applicant will assist his Honour with his judicial role and with tasks particular to the administration of the office of the Chief Justice. The position will commence in late June 2026. Excellent organisational, research and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, personal qualities suitable for liaising with the profession and members of the public, as well as a strong academic record, are essential. Post admission experience is highly desirable. Duties include: Preparing research and briefing memoranda and assisting in the production of judgments, including proof-reading and editing in compliance with the AGLC. Performing administrative tasks, including maintaining Court records and preparing material for use by his Honour in hearings. Researching and drafting speeches and articles on a variety of legal and policy topics. Preparing updates on law reform. Attending some meetings and engagements with his Honour. Responsibility for ceremonial sittings and events. Working closely with his Honour's personal staff to facilitate the efficient functioning of the chambers of the Chief Justice.
