Your Impact As a Specialist Systems Engineer within the I&MI team, you will provide technical expertise and pre‑sales support for Cisco's comprehensive portfolio including: Service Provider Routing (Cisco8000Series Routers, CiscoASR9000Series, CiscoNCSSeries); Optical Networking (CiscoNCSseriesDWDM line systems, pluggables, Cisco Routed Optical Networking solutions, Acacia optics,400G/800G optics); Network Automation & Controllers (Crosswork, CiscoNSO and PCA); AI Networking Solutions (scalable fabrics for GPU‑powered infrastructures). Key Responsibilities Collaborate cross‑functionally with I&MI Product Sales Specialists, Services, Engineering, and Account Managers to align sales and partner strategies across all I&MI architectures. Deliver compelling technical presentations, demonstrations and proof‑of‑concepts to customers at all levels, including CXO. Design and architect end‑to‑end solutions for next‑generation converged networks spanning Layer0 to Layer3. Lead RFP/RFQ responses for optical and routing solutions in SP environments. Create and present ROI‑based business case modeling to drive value‑based selling. Act as a trusted technical advisor for strategic accounts to ensure alignment with customer objectives and industry trends. Minimum Qualifications 8+ years of experience in Service Provider Routing, Optical, and Solution sales/engineering. Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or Solutions Architect in the telecommunications/networking industry. Experience engaging with key customers, understanding their unique needs, and applying industry best practices. Good understanding of service providers, web‑scale players, Public Sector and Enterprise customers in the ANZ region. Strong understanding of telecom networks, IP networking, L2/L3 VPNs, SDN, Segment routing/v6, optical networking, 4G/5G networks. Deep knowledge of optical networking space with experience in DCI, Metro, Core and Subsea DWDM solutions. Understanding of Layer3 technologies and management plane including MPLS, RSVP, SR, SDN, NMS. Hands‑on optical design experience for Layer0 and Layer1 DWDM networks. Excellent communication and presentation skills at CXO level and for large audiences/forums. Ability to explain complex technology benefits in easy‑to‑understand business language. Strong listening skills and ability to extract key customer issues. Ability to build senior executive relationships and position complex solutions. Demonstrated awareness of SP market trends and transitions. Preferred Qualifications Viewed as the "go-to" specialist for account teams on SP Routing and Optical technologies. Self‑starter with entrepreneurial mindset. Ability to work in a highly matrixed, global organization. Strong technical documentation and solution architecture skills. Experience with customer use cases such as Service Provider routing & transport, Metro and Long‑Haul optical networks, 5G transport, AI datacenter interconnect, peering and edge deployments.
