Mental health services are also provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda, and Coburg. About the Role The Department of Ophthalmology consists of: 8 Consultants 4 Orthoptists 1 Full‑time Fellow and an additional fellow in 2025 (this position) which is shared with the Eye and Ear 0.5 RANZCO accredited registrar The Northern Health Ophthalmology Service is provided through the division of surgery. The NH Ophthalmology Unit delivers current medical and surgical services through Broadmeadows Hospital, in partnership with RVEEH, supporting registrar training. The unit is strongly supported by orthoptists, outpatient and theatre staff, and is located in a self‑contained, well‑equipped outpatient clinic near the state‑of‑the‑art day surgical unit. The role combines excellent surgical opportunities with in‑house clinical training and advanced learning opportunities at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. Candidates are expected to be actively involved with divisional, sub‑specialty, and unit audit, medical student, junior resident, and registrar education, and research, including participation in the NH Research Program and submission of research proposals with the aim of conference presentations or paper publications as part of ongoing CME and professional development. Qualifications At least two years of post‑graduate experience in a tertiary hospital (Australia or recognised equivalent) Hold or be able to apply for medical registration under AHPRA Eligible for a working visa with full work rights if not an Australian citizen or permanent resident Closing Date Applications close 12 June 2026.
