The Role We are not looking for a traditional AI developer. We need a strategic, hands-on AI professional who will first deeply understand our business, then identify the highest-ROI opportunities for artificial intelligence, and finally lead the execution and implementation of those solutions. You will be the first dedicated AI role in the company and will report directly to the leadership team. Key Responsibilities Perform a full business audit across operations, design, fleet management, logistics, pricing, customer experience and asset maintenance in both Perth and Sydney. Identify and prioritise AI use cases with clear commercial outcomes (examples include predictive maintenance on modular units, computer vision for rapid damage inspection, generative design tools for custom 3.2 m walkways, demand forecasting, automated quoting, optimisation of under-grating cable layouts, intelligent inventory placement, and chatbots/configurators). Build and execute a practical AI roadmap tailored to a modular hire business. Develop, test and deploy AI/ML solutions (or manage external partners where needed). Work closely with our engineering, operations and sales teams to ensure solutions are adopted and deliver measurable results. About You You have strong commercial acumen and can quickly understand a physical hire/asset business. Proven experience identifying and then successfully implementing AI solutions that delivered real business value (not just research or proofs-of-concept). Hands-on technical capability in Python, machine learning frameworks, computer vision, generative AI, or related tools. Experience in construction, modular building, rental/hire, logistics or industrial sectors is highly desirable. Excellent communicator who can translate complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Self-starter comfortable operating with autonomy in a growing business.
