Reporting to the SVP, Legal & Business Affairs, you will provide strategic and day‑to‑day legal support across multiple divisions of the business, with a strong focus on A&R, Digital, and Brand Partnerships. You will work closely with internal stakeholders across the business, advising on artist and commercial deals, digital partnerships, marketing and influencer campaigns, intellectual property matters, and general commercial agreements. This role offers significant variety, autonomy, and exposure to the evolving music and entertainment landscape. This is a 12‑month contract position. Responsibilities A&R SupportDraft, negotiate, and advise on artist recording and licence agreements Prepare and negotiate producer, mixer, remixer, guest artist, and content agreements Support A&R teams through the contract and approval process Ensure internal approvals and compliance requirements are met DigitalSupport the Digital team on local and global digital deals Advise on digital platform agreements and commercial arrangements Negotiate and advise on influencer agreements and campaign structures Liaise with global UMG teams regarding digital guidelines and requirements Brand PartnershipsAssist with negotiating and drafting agreements for strategic brand partnerships, promotions, and marketing campaigns Support commercial negotiations with partners across a range of industries Coordinate agreements, approvals, and account sign‑off processes General Legal & CommercialProvide practical legal advice across commercial, intellectual property, privacy, and media‑related matters Draft and negotiate a broad range of agreements Support management of commercial partnerships, including background music provider arrangements Conduct legal research and provide preliminary advice as required Maintain and update internal rights management systems Liaise with international UMG offices on approvals, licensing, and global projects About You You are a commercially astute lawyer who thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. You enjoy working across a diverse range of legal matters and building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business. 2–4 years’ post‑qualification experience in private practice or in‑house Experience in music, media, entertainment, IP, or general commercial law (highly regarded) Strong drafting and negotiation skills Experience negotiating and managing commercial contracts Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organisational and time management capabilities Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with strong commercial judgement Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively Job Category: Business & Legal Affairs We are Universal Music Group, the world’s leading music company. #J-18808-Ljbffr
