Rotations following the initial 6 -12-month allocation as the WCHN Fellow Paediatric Emergency will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities. About the role The Fellow provides high-quality paediatric emergency care under Consultant supervision, managing emergency presentations and Extended Care Unit inpatients, coordinating investigations and discharge planning, supervising junior staff, contributing to teaching, participating in on-call services, and supporting research and quality improvement activities. Key duties of the role Undertake assessment and management of new Emergency patients, in consultation with the supervising Consultant. Participates in all duties associated with Extended Care Unit inpatients, including ward rounds, care coordination, referral, as well as discharge and follow up arrangements. Assess and manage acute paediatric and neonatal emergencies. Participate in the Paediatric Trauma Service including patient assessment and participation in education and audit activities. Ensure that service provision and the activities of the Division are client focussed. Skills and Experience Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration. Clinical experience and competence in the practice of paediatric emergency medicine. Ability to work as an effective team member in a multi-disciplinary environment Ability to communicate effectively with clients and other staff. Commitment to client (and parent/carer) participation in care.
