Thiess is seeking a HSEQT Manager to join our mining business operations at the Gruyere Gold project, working a 5:2, 4:3, 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth. About the Role We are looking for a professional with strong, proven experience in motivating and leading a team of senior health, safety, and training specialists. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will oversee the on‑site HSEQ and Training departments, ensuring effective delivery of HSEQ and Training support across the project. Key Responsibilities Direct, implement and maintain safety operations, staff, systems and culture on site whilst working closely with other departments. Attend client and senior leadership meetings to plan and coordinate work activities, providing safety direction and improvement strategies. Lead, direct and mentor on‑site safety staff in effective health and safety operations of the project. Contribute to incidents investigations (low and high level), review work packs and SWMS, and promote a strong safety culture. Oversee the coordination and implementation of the training and competency framework. Work with site management to maintain compliance with Client processes and project standards; monitor and report safety trends and performance. Participate in daily pre‑starts/toolboxes, promote collaboration, adaptability, innovation, and ensure safety and sustainability are always prioritised. Provide high‑level guidance and influence leaders and employees on WHS best practices, wellbeing, and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with project delivery teams to close out audit findings, review safety in design and constructability, and maintain awareness of project sequencing and risk. Champion health, wellbeing, and inclusion, supporting initiatives that enhance workforce safety, engagement, and diversity. Qualifications Notable and demonstrable experience in health and safety at a senior advisor, leadership or manager level, with a minimum of 10 years in mining, construction or other heavy industries. Strong leadership skills and a proven background in managing teams of advisors, coordinators and supporting safety staff in a mining, construction or heavy industry environment. High levels of enthusiasm around workplace safety culture and training, with a true passion for the work and an understanding of the industry. Notable understanding of policy and procedures, as well as the legislative requirements of the mining industry, and the ability to interpret changes and direct operations and staff as they come into effect. Proven experience in running safety reviews and investigations at both high and low levels, as well as being responsible for creation of policy and procedures for safe operations on site. Hold a tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety. Hold a White Card, driver's licence, and desirable certifications (RIW card, First Aid, ICAM, TAE Cert IV).
