The role provides expert advice to the Director of Operations and Executive on matters relating to Hand Therapy services and maintains professional accountability for the delivery, quality, and development of these services. Reporting operationally to the Director of Clinical Services (SSEH), the position also maintains a professional link with the Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy Network Head of Department across Prince of Wales and Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospitals and Health Services. The role is responsible for supporting Hand Therapy staff across SESLHD and combines Unit Head and Clinical Specialist responsibilities, with approximately 60% dedicated to unit management, service development, clinical leadership, and state‑wide consultancy, and 40% allocated to direct clinical caseload management. Where You'll Be Working Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital have a rich history and provide a unique blend of general and specialist medical services, including a 24‑hour emergency service, general medicine with close observation unit, perioperative services, and specialist hand and eye surgery. The Hospital is located in the heart of the Central Business District in Sydney. Directly across the road from Martin Place and St James Station Walking distance to various bus stops The light rail is a walking distance on George St and the metro station Subsidised parking available for staff who drive to work Selection Criteria Relevant Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy tertiary qualifications and current registration with the AHPRA Physiotherapists or AHPRA Occupational Therapy Registration Board, and eligibility for full membership of the Australian Hand Therapy Association. Extensive Hand Therapy clinical experience, including novel, complex and critical management of hand trauma from a physiotherapy or occupational therapy background. Extensive management experience as a Registered Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist, knowledge of network policies, procedures, and professional and clinical issues relating to hand therapy. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to provide leadership and strategic direction with demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, evaluating and reporting on hand therapy services. Demonstrated ability to supervise and teach staff and other health professionals. Commitment to the delivery of high quality service with knowledge and understanding of evidence‑based practice and evidence of taking a prominent role in research or other clinical improvement activities.
