We are seeking a highly capable and hands‑on Chief Engineer to lead engineering and property operations across a unique portfolio of hotels in the Blue Mountains. Located just 90 minutes from Sydney and based at Lilianfels Resort & Spa, this is a rare opportunity to join Salter Brothers Hospitality and oversee maintenance, asset management, compliance, and engineering standards across some of the region’s most historic and celebrated hotels. Reporting to the Regional General Manager, you will lead all engineering and property services across the cluster. This role requires a hands‑on leader with strong technical capability, sound compliance knowledge, and the ability to manage heritage‑listed assets with care and attention to detail. Responsibilities Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the Maintenance Department across the entire property cluster, maintaining a hands‑on leadership approach. Lead, inspire and develop a high‑performing team of maintenance professionals, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Create and manage an integrated repair, planned maintenance and installation plan covering all mechanical, electrical and hydraulic plant and equipment for each hotel. Develop and recommend strategies to optimise performance, reliability and efficiency of all engineering systems, and implement approved improvements across the cluster. Manage and deliver capital works projects from planning through to execution, ensuring timely, cost‑effective and quality outcomes. Coordinate all incoming and outgoing contractors, ensuring correct licensing, documentation and full WHS compliance before work commences. Oversee budgeting processes, monthly reporting and capital expenditure planning to support long‑term asset protection and operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with WHS, fire safety systems, building codes and contractor licensing requirements, bringing all legal obligations and risks to the attention of the Regional General Manager. Provide on‑call support and technical expertise for urgent repairs and after‑hours emergencies to minimise downtime and service disruption. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in a Chief Engineer or similar role from within hotel environments. Strong knowledge of WHS, compliance, fire systems and building maintenance. Experience working with heritage or ageing assets highly regarded. Proven ability to lead and manage small teams. Solid organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks. Experience coordinating contractors and managing maintenance schedules. Valid driver’s license. Living within the Blue Mountains region or willingness to relocate. #J-18808-Ljbffr
