About the role The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for building, optimising, and maintaining our data pipelines and ETL processes to support data-driven decision‑making across business units. This role will focus on developing robust data solutions within Databricks, covering Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion layers to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and performance. The Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in orchestrating data workflows, managing dependencies, and leveraging tools like Apache Airflow, DBT core, and Spark to develop efficient data models and processing pipelines. Your role requires expertise in data engineering best practices, including data extraction, transformation, and integration from various internal and external sources. Collaborate with line‑of‑business teams to understand data requirements and ensure the delivery of high‑quality, reliable data products. By ensuring the continuous optimisation and scalability of our data engineering infrastructure, this role will empower the organisation to derive actionable insights and drive business outcomes. Hands‑on expertise with Databricks , including building and managing Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers. Strong experience orchestrating workflows using tools like Apache Airflow , DBT , and Databricks Workflows/DLT . Proficiency in Python and SQL to develop scalable data models and transformations. Experience integrating data from diverse sources, including APIs and real‑time streaming. Solid background in Spark , PySpark , and Delta Lake for large‑scale data processing and optimisation. Familiarity with CI/CD (GitLab) and foundational knowledge of Terraform and RBAC for deployment and access management.
