Greenfields is partnering with a leading Australian financial services organisation operating in the Insurance sector. This organisation is recognised for its strong governance framework, sophisticated legal function and commitment to delivering fair, compliant and commercially sound outcomes for its members and stakeholders. The Role This is a senior legal leadership role with responsibility for overseeing complex litigation and external dispute resolution matters. You will act as a trusted adviser to the business, providing strategic and technically robust legal advice while leading a high performing team within a highly regulated environment. Key Responsibilities Lead, develop and mentor a team of lawyers and dispute resolution professionals Oversee the effective management of litigated matters through external legal providers Work closely with Claims, Underwriting, Risk and Compliance teams and engage extensively with external stakeholders including AFCA, regulators, courts, tribunals and external legal providers. Personally manage complex litigation and external dispute resolution matters, including AFCA complaints Provide timely, commercially astute legal advice to business units, particularly Claims and Underwriting Support the Internal Disputes function with expert legal guidance Advise Risk and Compliance teams on regulatory obligations and industry codes of practice About You Qualified legal practitioner with 7+ years PQE in financial services Strong expertise in the Insurance Contracts Act, Life Insurance Act, AFCA Rules, civil procedure, and dispute resolution frameworks. A collaborative and supportive team member who fosters strong working relationships and supports the development of more junior team members. Demonstrated capability in managing matters across courts and external dispute resolution forums with professionalism and sound judgement. Advanced drafting skills, with the ability to prepare clear, precise, and well-structured legal documents. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with a proven capacity to simplify complex legal concepts and effectively influence a broad range of stakeholders. Highly organised with strong time management skills, able to prioritise competing demands and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
