Your role This is a newly created position that has emerged from the evolution of the senior leadership team. Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the CEO, you will serve as the commercial finance engine of the business – providing rigorous financial analysis, modelling, and strategic insight to support major capital decisions and operational performance across the group platform. This is a genuine individual contributor role built for someone who thrives with autonomy, takes ownership of their work programme, and can translate complex financial data into clear, compelling narratives for senior leadership and the board. Responsibilities Developing and maintaining financial models from scratch to evaluate major capex projects and overall business performance. Preparing investment cases and business cases to support board‑level decision‑making and project approval. Taking ownership of the PE‑quarterly valuations, transitioning these in‑house from external advisers. Conducting financial, operational, and market analysis to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities. Preparing and presenting financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including lenders. Contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in close partnership with the Finance team. Supporting the commercial aspects of major projects from concept through to delivery. Background & Experience To be successful in this role, you will bring a blend of Big Four advisory discipline (transaction services, corporate finance or deals), hands‑on financial modelling capability, and genuine commercial acumen developed within asset‑owning or operationally complex environments. You are not simply a model builder; you understand the physical world behind the numbers and can engage credibly with senior leaders, boards, and external stakeholders. Qualifications CA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification, ideally with a Big Four training background. 8 years of experience including demonstrated capability in building financial models from scratch. A track record of preparing and presenting investment and business cases at executive and board level. Sector background in infrastructure, waste management, environmental services, manufacturing, construction, or another asset‑heavy industry. Exposure to major capex project analysis, from concept and feasibility through to board approval and delivery. A self‑starter mindset: the ability to manage your own programme of work with minimal direction while collaborating effectively with a small, collegial leadership team. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present complex analysis clearly at the executive level.
