What is the General Employment Register used for? We are seeking highly motivated applicants to tell us about the skills, experience and qualifications they can bring to the ACCC/AER by submitting a general expression of interest for employment opportunities. The ACCC/AER will access the register to source appropriately skilled and experienced individuals as an alternative to advertising. If a position comes up, we will review the applications to see if someone has what we need. You will only be contacted if a vacancy arises that suits your attributes, skills and experience. Current APS employees interested in transfers and secondment opportunities are encouraged to register their interest in working with us via this register. Please note there is no possibility of ongoing (permanent) employment from an application submitted through this register if you are not a current ongoing APS employee. Opportunities may arise across all areas of the agency’s work, including competition, product safety, consumer, fair trading, mergers, the National Anti-Scam Centre, and energy regulation. We are often seeking expertise in legal, regulation, investigations, analysis, economics, digital and data, IT, communications, governance, or project management. ACCC/AER may use this register to fill vacancies between APS1 - EL2 classification levels. The classification of roles is based on the APS Work Level Standards . Our online application form will ask you to express an interest in roles from the APS Level 1 to Executive Level 2 classifications, and select the work areas you have an interest and experience in. We also ask that you fill out some basic information about yourself as well as attaching an up-to-date resume. To be eligible for employment at the ACCC/AER: You must be an Australian citizen. If you are offered employment with ACCC/AER, you will need to provide evidence of your Australian citizenship via a certified copy of your Australian Passport, Australian Citizenship Certificate or a birth certificate issued by an Australian State or Territory Government if you were born prior to 20 August 1986. Notes Non-Ongoing Contract Restrictions - Non-ongoing contracts for General Employment Register candidates can be offered for an initial period of up to 12 months with one possible contract extension, depending on operational requirements. The maximum total contract period cannot exceed 18 months. Criminal Records Check – All new ACCC/AER employees are required to undergo a criminal records check. Probation - A probation period will apply to any new engagement with the ACCC/AER. Further Information Your registration on the General Employment Register will remain active until 30 June 2026.
