Section overview The Environmental and Health Services section provides expertise, specialised resources and services to support the protection of the public, workers and the environment from the hazards of both ionising and non-ionising radiation. The Service undertakes a range of scientific activities and projects to characterise sources of radiation exposures, to assess the risks to people and the environment from exposure to radiation, and to reflect this understanding into advice and guidance to the public, Government and other stakeholders. Primary purpose of the role The Senior Director, Environmental and Health Services, plays a pivotal leadership role in ARPANSA, driving both strategic and operational results throughout the agency’s environmental and assessment programs in the Modelling, Assessment and Emergency Preparedness Section, the Radiochemistry and Environmental Sciences Section and the Monitoring Networks and Health Physics Measurements Section. With considerable autonomy and responsibility, you will enable Section Managers in the delivery of key projects and services, navigate complex challenges and adapt to evolving priorities. The occupant of the role will be directly responsible for work programs and services across multiple sections and project teams of the branch to deliver high-quality services to customers. This includes overseeing the development and delivery of environmental monitoring networks, measurement systems, and health risk assessment programs, as well as offering expert technical advice and support to both emergency management and environmental protection initiatives.
