Location: Mullumbimby, New South Wales Full-time About the role We are seeking an experienced Engineering Surveyor to deliver high‑quality, accurate and timely survey services that support engineering design, capital works and maintenance programs across Byron Shire Council. Reporting to the Team Leader Survey and Design, this role plays a critical part in enabling the successful planning, delivery and completion of infrastructure projects that benefit the community. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors and government agencies, applying contemporary surveying techniques and technologies while contributing to a culture of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement. To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have Bachelor's degree in engineering surveying or equivalent spatial science Demonstrated experience in engineering, cadastral, topographic and related surveying disciplines Demonstrated working knowledge in GIS mapping systems, metro counter classifiers, CAD Software, 12D Software, GPS and mobile devices The ability to interpret engineering and survey plans and produce accurate survey outputs Sound organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer‑focused approach A strong commitment to Work Health & Safety, environmental management and safe work practices A current Class C Driver Licence and Construction Induction (White Card) Registration as a Surveyor (desirable) and relevant traffic control qualifications (or willingness to obtain) Key Responsibilities Provide accurate survey information for base plots, cadastral investigations, set‑out works and works‑as‑executed plans Undertake engineering and construction surveys in support of capital works and maintenance projects Operate and maintain survey equipment, ensuring efficient and responsible use of resources Provide technical surveying advice to internal teams and external stakeholders Assist with minor design work and quantity calculations as required Collect, process and report on traffic data, supporting traffic and transport activities Liaise with government agencies, contractors and community stakeholders on survey‑related matters Ensure all work is delivered safely, within budget and in accordance with policies, procedures and legislation Contribute positively to team culture, continuous improvement initiatives and organisational objectives We Offer A permanent, full‑time position (35 hours per week) Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with appointment at Band 9, in the range of $84,310 to $97,686 (dependent upon skills and experience) 12% Superannuation Other Benefits Include Career development and training opportunities Attractive salary packaging scheme Employee Assistance Program (4 sessions per year) Fitness Passport Health and Wellbeing days Flexible work hours We believe in diversity, inclusion and equality and are committed to ensuring that our workplaces are a reflection of our community.
