Job Overview This is a full-time, on-site role based in Perth, WA for a Drill & Blast Estimator / Business Development Lead. The role involves preparing accurate and competitive drill and blast cost estimates, including quantity take-offs, resource calculations, and pricing models for tenders and proposals. You will analyze project specifications, designs, and geological data to develop optimal drill and blast methodologies and schedules aligned with safety and productivity targets. On a day-to-day basis, you will liaise with operations, engineering, and commercial teams to validate assumptions, gather input, and refine estimates, while maintaining up-to-date estimating tools, databases, and market benchmarks. In the business development capacity, you will identify and qualify new opportunities, contribute to bid strategies, prepare client-facing proposals, and support presentations and negotiations. The role also includes building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders, monitoring market trends in the mining sector, and providing regular reporting on pipeline, win/loss analysis, and commercial risks and opportunities. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in drill and blast estimation, including quantity take-offs, cost build-ups, and development of detailed pricing models for mining projects. Strong technical understanding of drilling and blasting methods, equipment selection, explosives usage, and mine planning principles in open pit and/or underground environments. Proficiency with estimating, scheduling, and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, estimating software, mine planning packages) and the ability to interpret drawings, plans, and geotechnical information. Business development skills, including opportunity identification, pipeline management, client relationship building, and preparation of compelling tender submissions and presentations. Well-developed commercial acumen, with the ability to assess risk, margin, and competitiveness, and to contribute to bid strategy and contract negotiations. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical and cost information into clear, client-ready proposals and reports. Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple tenders and initiatives simultaneously.
