Livestock SA is the peak body representing South Australian livestock producers. We work with government, industry and key stakeholders to influence policy, advocating for the right policies to support a resilient, sustainable and profitable livestock industry. About the role We are seeking an accomplished Policy Director to lead Livestock SA’s policy and advocacy function. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this senior role will shape the organisation’s policy agenda, provide strategic advice and advance priority issues for South Australian livestock producers. You will bring sound judgement, strong policy and analytical capability, and the ability to turn complex issues into clear, practical and influential positions. The role suits a confident communicator and astute stakeholder manager who can lead across a broad and evolving policy portfolio. Key responsibilities Lead Livestock SA’s policy and advocacy agenda. Provide high-level policy advice and briefing support to the Chief Executive Officer and Board. Prepare high-quality submissions, briefing papers, correspondence and reports. Monitor and analyse legislative, regulatory and policy developments affecting the industry. Represent Livestock SA in meetings, forums and consultations. Build strong relationships that support influence and effective advocacy. Contribute to organisational leadership and strategic priorities. About you Demonstrated experience in policy development, advocacy, government relations or a comparable senior advisory role. Excellent research, analysis and writing skills, with the ability to produce clear and persuasive policy material. Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills. Strong organisational capability and the ability to manage competing priorities with sound judgement. Experience in agriculture, livestock or regional policy will be highly regarded.
