Job Description The Finance Business Partner will play a key role within the commercial finance team, partnering with stakeholders across carsales’ Australian business to provide trusted financial advice, challenge thinking, and support strategic and operational decision‑making. The role is responsible for leading planning and forecasting activities, delivering meaningful performance insights, and translating financial and commercial data into clear recommendations that improve growth, profitability, and resource allocation. Acting as a true business partner, this role will influence outcomes through strong stakeholder engagement, commercial acumen, and a proactive focus on opportunities, risks and continuous improvement. What you’ll be doing Partner with business leaders across the Australian business to provide financial insight, challenge assumptions, and support strategic and operational decision‑making. Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts and long‑range plans, ensuring alignment between financial outcomes, operational priorities and business strategy. Deliver high‑quality month‑end reporting, including variance analysis, commentary and actionable recommendations for stakeholders and leadership. Develop and maintain robust financial models, scenario analysis and business cases to support pricing, investment decisions, new initiatives and strategic projects. Monitor key business drivers, revenue performance, costs and market trends to identify risks, opportunities and areas for performance improvement. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including sales, product, operations, analytics and data science to translate complex data into commercially meaningful insights. Support and influence stakeholder decision‑making through clear communication of financial implications, trade‑offs and recommended actions. Support M&A activity through financial analysis, due diligence, valuation input and integration planning as required. Identify and drive continuous improvement in planning, reporting and finance processes to enhance insight, efficiency and business performance. Qualifications Professional accounting qualification (CPA/CA). 5+ years’ experience in commercial finance, FP&A or business partnering roles. Strong financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting capability. Demonstrated experience partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing commercial outcomes. Experience with Oracle EPM, NetSuite, Salesforce and advanced Excel skills will be advantageous. Strong communicator with the ability to build credibility and influence financially and non‑financially minded stakeholders. Proactive and confident in challenging assumptions, identifying opportunities, and driving continuous improvement. Able to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment while maintaining accuracy, judgment and attention to detail.
