Senior Business Analyst – Payroll and Data Migration We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Analyst – Payroll and Data Migration. This role will be responsible for gathering requirements, analysing payroll processes, data migration, supporting testing, training and ensuring a seamless transition. The ideal candidate will have expertise in payroll operations and system implementations. Key Responsibilities Payroll Domain Expertise Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with HR, finance, and payroll teams to understand current processes, pain points, and future needs. Process Analysis & Optimization: Map and analyse payroll related workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements. Compliance & Controls: Ensure payroll processes align with local legislation, tax regulations, and audit requirements. Guide end-to-end testing of payroll systems to ensure accurate configuration, data integrity, and seamless migration. Data Migration Experience Data Mapping & Transformation: Define source-to-target mappings, including cleansing, validation, and transformation rules. Migration Strategy & Planning: Develop migration plans, including timelines, cutover strategies, and rollback contingencies. Testing & Validation: Lead data reconciliation efforts, UAT, and parallel runs to ensure accuracy and completeness. Risk Management: Identify migration risks (e.g., data loss, downtime) and develop mitigation strategies. Stakeholder Engagement Workshops & Interviews: Facilitate sessions with SMEs to gather insights and validate requirements. Change Management Support: Support preparation of communications, training materials, and transition plans for impacted teams. Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates to project sponsors, steering committees, and cross-functional teams. Act as a bridge between payroll operations, HR, finance, and technical teams to ensure a smooth implementation and transition. Technical & Analytical Skills Tools & Platforms: Proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint and payroll systems; familiarity with data warehouses and reporting tools. Documentation: Create BRDs, functional specs, data dictionaries, and test scripts. Integration Knowledge: Understand APIs, middleware, and system interfaces between payroll and other enterprise systems. Project & Delivery Support Agile/Waterfall Methodologies: Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives (if Agile). Collaboration with IT: Work closely with developers, testers, and architects to ensure business needs are translated into technical solutions. Post-Go-Live Support: Assist with hypercare, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, IT, or a related field. Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably with payroll or workforce management systems. Strong understanding of Payroll, Time Tracking or Scheduling. Experience with payroll process analysis, system configuration, and data migration. Knowledge of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and industry best practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Skills Change management experience in payroll system transformation projects.
