Role Overview The Field Research team at CoStar Group is essential for gathering and verifying accurate, comprehensive data on commercial properties including tenant occupancy, available listings, and building characteristics to support all company products. The Director of Field Research is a key leadership role, responsible for setting the strategy and managing the expansion of this research across Australia. This dynamic leader will oversee recruitment, onboarding, and the performance of a high‑performing management team. The primary goal is to ensure the timely delivery of high‑quality property and tenant data, which requires a strong operational mindset and a results‑driven approach. Key Responsibilities Set strategic direction and external representation: establish the strategy for market and portfolio research across regions, oversee the production of analytics and forecasts, and serve as a thought leader for CoStar in client meetings and media. Team leadership and development: lead and manage senior analysts and a large team of managers and researchers. Responsibilities include recruiting, developing, coaching, and implementing onboarding and training programs for the team’s ongoing success and integration. Operational excellence and data quality: maintain a strong operational focus to ensure all individual and team metrics, KPIs, and quality standards are consistently met. This involves focusing on continuous process improvement and collaborating with Product, Research, Sales, and IT departments to deliver the most accurate data. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (in Real Estate, Economics, or related field). 10+ years of experience in commercial real estate research or analytics leadership. 5‑8 years of experience leading large‑scale, dispersed teams to meet deadlines and deliverables. Strong presentation and client‑facing skills. Proven ability to lead large teams and deliver strategic insights. Proven track record of driving accountability with managers and leading in a metric‑driven organisation. Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment with high creative and delivery standards. Ability to collaborate across functional areas.
