About the Role The primary focus of the RAJAC Executive Officer is to support the effective operation of the Regional Aboriginal Advisory Committee (RAJAC) for the North Metropolitan Region of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and to ensure the active participation and engagement of the Aboriginal community in the Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA). The RAJAC EO will lead the effective operation of the RAJAC and the Local Aboriginal Justice Action Committees (LAJAC), report regularly for the Aboriginal Justice Forum and Aboriginal Justice Caucus, and provide secretariat services to the RAJAC chair, members, and promote all AJA initiatives within the region. Duties Provide key support, secretariat services and advice to the RAJAC, including the preparation of meeting papers, reporting, briefing, agenda, venue booking, catering and minute taking. Proactively build and maintain effective relationships with relevant working parties, internal stakeholders and external stakeholders, including Aboriginal community organisations or representatives, and develop options for implementing innovative strategies to facilitate a partnership approach. Maintain regular contact with the Chairperson of the Northern Metropolitan RAJAC to uphold the partnership and implementation of AJA. Qualifications & Experience Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community and the issues impacting community. Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal community. Knowledge and understanding of the interface between Aboriginal issues and Government and service priorities. Related qualifications and/or experience is desirable. A current full Victorian Driver’s licence. Additional Information Regional travel is required and a full driver’s licence will be required.
