Fixed Term Up to 1.0FTE Staff Specialist - Genetic Medicine - Westmead Hospital - WSLHD Fixed Term Up to 1.0FTE Staff Specialist (12 months) Department of Genetic Medicine Successful applicants will be based at Westmead Hospital and required to provide clinical services to adults with genetic metabolic disorders. The role includes supporting outpatient clinics and after-hours on‑call responsibilities. The Adult Genetic Metabolic Disorders service sees approximately 1,100 patients with confirmed diagnoses and works closely with metabolic dieticians, advanced trainees, a nurse specialist, and the Clinical Genetics department. Multiple active clinical trials and research projects are underway. Responsibilities Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of adults with genetic metabolic disorders; support multidisciplinary team meetings; participate in quality assurance and evidence‑based practice; supervise trainees and contribute to teaching. Selection Criteria Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent; qualifications and credentials required for core scope of practice. Sound clinical knowledge in genetic metabolic disorders. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical/Dental Practitioner, including: High level interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence‑based best practice. Commitment to teaching and supervision. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied, or clinical research within the department. Completed recognised training as a physician under the auspices of the RACP or equivalent. Demonstrated experience in the diagnosis and management of patients with inborn errors of metabolism.
