Keep the ED Moving — Emergency Department Clerk | SALHN As an Emergency Department Clerk at Flinders Medical Centre or Noarlunga Health Service, you\'ll be the steady administrative presence behind some of South Australia\'s busiest EDs — registering patients, managing records, and keeping critical information flowing accurately when it matters most. These part-time contracts offer real flexibility while placing you at the centre of a high-performing clinical team within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. About the role: Reporting to the Clerical Manager, the key objective is to effectively coordinate the registration of all patients attending the department and arrange admission/ facilitate discharge where necessary. Duties for the role will include: Registration, using the computer data base, of all patients presenting for treatment including interviewing in the treatment areas of Emergency and identification of customer and patient needs, Ensuring all documentation is accurate and completed in a professional and timely manner and is in accordance with any organisational and/or legislative requirements where applicable, Processing patient admissions to the wards according to procedures, Liaising with relatives, ambulance officers, police in relation to patient presentation and admittance and deal with their needs in a timely manner, Always acting in a professional manner when dealing with internal and external clients About you: Ability to deal with members of the public and respond empathetically to a range of difficult needs and priorities, Ability to organise and prioritise work and to meet deadlines, Understanding of, and commitment to, patient confidentiality requirements, Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people including patients, their families, ambulance officers, medical and nursing staff and police officers, Experience working in an area of public contact, Experience working with computer systems.
