Protection Engineer - Experienced and Senior Levels ElectraNet builds, owns, operates, and maintains the South Australian high voltage electricity transmission network that delivers energy from generators to distributors and major load-connected customers, enabling power to be supplied to homes, businesses, and communities. Opportunity We are seeking a Protection Engineer to support current workloads and prepare for significant projects in the pipeline. The role can be appointed at Experienced or Senior level based on the candidate’s capability. Responsibilities Design, review, and deliver protection systems for HV transmission and substation assets. Prepare protection system designs, scopes, specifications and settings. Review and validate protection designs for compliance and quality. Support commissioning and witnessing of protection systems. Work across multiple projects and prioritise competing deadlines. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure compliance with legislative, safety and industry standards. For Senior level: provide technical assurance, sign off and mentoring support to other engineers. Qualifications Minimum 5 years' experience in a protection‑related role for Experienced level. Minimum 7 years' experience in a protection‑related role for Senior level. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and eligibility for Engineers Australia membership. Strong experience in HV protection system design, review and settings. Proven capability in developing scopes and estimates for protection works. Experience reviewing, assuring and signing off engineering deliverables. Ability to work autonomously across multiple projects. Sound knowledge of Australian electricity industry regulations and standards. Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders. Current driver’s licence and flexible approach to working hours. Benefits Competitive remuneration package.
