The Department of Communities protects and cares for Western Australian children and young people who are in need and supports families and individuals who are at risk or in crisis. Talent Register Our Child Protection Frontline Talent Register is an online portal that allows candidates to register their interest for full‑time and part‑time opportunities, including fixed‑term/secondment up to twelve (12) months or transfer at level for existing permanent public sector employees. The register is actively monitored by managers to match applicants to available opportunities, enabling a direct appointment via a streamlined process as positions become available. Roles Child Safety Practitioner – work with children, young people and families who are vulnerable or in crisis to ensure children are safe and protected from harm. Support Officer – provide direct support to Child Safety Practitioners by collecting, recording and analysing client information and engaging with children, families, government and non‑government support agencies. Family Support Adviser – provide supervision and support to families, children and young people about accessing Department and community resources. Administrative Coordinator – contribute to the effective management of district offices by providing a high level of customer service in relation to administrative matters. Home and Community Visitor – undertake homes and community visits to provide culturally appropriate support and assistance to parents and carers. Parenting Skills Officer – provide a personal culturally appropriate parenting‑skill service to assist in the growth and development of families, facilitating child safety and wellbeing. Responsibilities Collect, record and analyse client information. Engage with children, families, government and non‑government support agencies. Provide supervision and support to families, children and young people. Offer high‑level customer service in administrative matters. Conduct home and community visits to deliver culturally appropriate support. Deliver parenting‑skill services to promote child safety and wellbeing. Qualifications For the Child Safety Practitioner role you must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or a relevant human services area and all overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency. For fixed‑term appointments, you must provide documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the duration of the offer of employment.
