We are seeking a Development Manager to play a pivotal leadership role in driving and coordinating all aspects of renewable energy and embedded network project development—from initial concept through to investment approval and delivery handover. This Senior role ensures each project is strategically aligned, commercially optimised, and technically robust, while upholding Energy Bay’s standards for compliance, safety, and performance. You Will Be Successful In The Role If Minimum 8–10 years demonstrated experience in renewable energy or infrastructure development applications. Proven ability with a strong track record of managing regulatory approvals (EIC/AER) development applications (DAs), investment committee submissions, and grid connection processes. Extensive expertise in project and program management frameworks, systems, and integrated work management methodologies. Excellent organisational skills and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across technical and non-technical audiences. Highly disciplined and organised, with a proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet critical deadlines, and deliver against program milestones in dynamic environments. Thrives in high-pressure environments, with a proven ability to pivot and work in an agile workplace. Well-honed financial and commercial acumen, with deep expertise in IRR, NPV, and value optimisation strategies to drive investment performance and strategic decision-making. Demonstrated capability in anticipating potential challenges and implementing pro-active risk management and mitigation strategies to safeguard project outcomes. A solid understanding of electrical, solar and battery construction or infrastructure development practices is strongly desired. Demonstrated leadership and team management experience with the ability to mentor and develop staff. Build and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external clients & stakeholders. Responsibilities Lead the Project and Program Development: overseeing end-to-end project development—from inception to investment approval and delivery handover. Ensure feasibility through rigorous technical, financial, and risk analysis. Identify and unlock value creation opportunities, ensuring projects consistently achieve or surpass targeted IRR and NPV benchmarks. Collaborate cross-functionally to define scope, budgets, and timelines aligned with portfolio objectives and Energy Bay’s strategic pillars. Lead financial oversight across project development, including budgeting, forecasting, and investment case preparation. Monitor expenditure and ensure governance compliance, while identifying value optimisation opportunities to meet IRR/NPV targets. Support strategic procurement through tendering and evaluation of key consultants and partners. Act as the senior client representative in project control groups and strategic forums, fostering strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring alignment between client expectations and project delivery outcomes. Lead the seamless transition from development to delivery, ensuring comprehensive handover documentation and operational readiness. Drive continuous improvement across development and delivery workflows, enhancing efficiency, quality, and alignment with strategic objectives.
