About the Role A Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee - Executive Officer (RAJAC EO) will support the effective operation of the Regional Aboriginal Advisory Committee (RAJAC) for the North Metropolitan Region of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) and ensure active participation and engagement of the Aboriginal community in the Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA). The role is key to the regional executive leadership team and involves leading the operation of the RAJAC and Local Aboriginal Justice Action Committees (LAJAC) to deliver early intervention, diversion, rehabilitation and reintegration initiatives. The RAJAC EO will develop and strengthen supportive linkages between justice agencies and community organisations, provide policy advice, implement the Regional Justice Plan, and provide secretariat services to the RAJAC chair and members while promoting AJA initiatives throughout the region. The role requires strong project management, policy development, and written communication skills for preparing project plans, briefs and reports for forums such as the Aboriginal Justice Forum and Aboriginal Justice Caucus. Regional travel is required and a full driver’s licence is mandatory. Provide key support, secretariat services and advice to the RAJAC, RAJAC chair including preparation of meeting papers, reporting, briefing, agenda, venue booking, catering and minute taking. Pro‑actively build and maintain effective relationships with relevant working parties, internal stakeholders and external stakeholders including Aboriginal community organisations or representatives and develop options for implementing innovative partnership strategies. Maintain regular contact with the Chairperson of the Northern Metropolitan RAJAC to uphold partnership and implementation of AJA. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community and the issues impacting the community. Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal community. Knowledge and understanding of the interface between Aboriginal issues and Government and service priorities. Qualifications Related qualifications and/or experience is desirable.
