Position Summary The Senior Tax Accountant Manager is a senior advisory and compliance role responsible for overseeing the delivery of complex taxation and business advisory services to a high-value client portfolio. This position plays a key role in supporting the strategic direction of client engagements, maintaining technical excellence across the firm, and contributing to the continued growth and development of the practice. Working closely with the Partner, the role requires a commercially minded and highly experienced professional who can provide high-level taxation advice, manage sophisticated client matters, and act as a trusted advisor to business owners across a range of industries. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to client service, while contributing to operational improvements, best practice processes, and the ongoing evolution of the firm’s advisory offering. Key Responsibilities Tax & Compliance Oversee the preparation and review of complex financial statements and taxation compliance obligations across a diverse client portfolio. Provide high-level taxation advice to business owners, entities, and investment structures including companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals, and SMSFs. Lead complex tax planning engagements and identify strategic opportunities for clients relating to tax minimisation, business structuring, and long-term growth. Ensure compliance with all relevant taxation legislation, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Manage complex ATO matters including reviews, audits, objections, and correspondence. Oversee payroll tax compliance obligations and provide advice relating to payroll tax requirements and risk management. Support the Partner with technical research, risk management, and complex client advisory matters. Maintain oversight of workflow management, lodgement deadlines, and quality control across client engagements. Advisory & Client Management Act as a trusted advisor to clients by delivering commercially focused taxation and business advisory solutions. Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with business owners and key stakeholders. Provide strategic advice relating to business growth, cash flow, profitability, business structures, succession planning, and operational performance. Present financial insights and recommendations in a clear, commercially practical, and client-focused manner. Support clients through business growth phases, operational challenges, and strategic decision-making. Collaborate with the Partner on advisory initiatives and opportunities to expand client service offerings. Leadership & Technical Oversight Provide technical oversight and review of complex taxation and advisory engagements across the firm. Maintain high professional, ethical, and compliance standards across all client work. Support the Partner with quality assurance, technical review processes, and risk management initiatives. Contribute to the strategic growth and development of the firm through process improvement and operational excellence. Assist in driving consistency, efficiency, and best-practice service delivery standards. Act as a senior technical resource within the firm for complex taxation and business advisory matters. Contribute to a collaborative and solutions-focused team environment. Process Improvement & Technology Identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, and efficiencies. Support the implementation and optimisation of accounting technologies and automation tools. Maintain accurate and organised client records and documentation. Contribute to process documentation and best practice initiatives. Skills & Experience Bachelor degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline. CA or CPA qualified. Minimum 7+ years experience within public practice accounting. Strong technical expertise across Australian taxation legislation, compliance, and advisory. Demonstrated experience managing complex client groups and high-value relationships. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide strategic business advice. Experience reviewing complex taxation and advisory engagements. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills. High level analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capability. Strong understanding of cloud accounting and practice management systems. Experience with advisory and virtual CFO services. Strong experience reviewing complex compliance and advisory engagements. Knowledge of business structuring, asset protection, and tax planning strategies. Experience with workflow management and practice management systems.
