Senior Safety Advisor (Contract) - Government Transformation Program Are you a hands‑on Senior Safety Advisor who thrives in complex environments and enjoys building practical, fit‑for‑purpose safety systems? We are partnering with a large government organisation undergoing a significant Safety Management System (SMS) transformation and are seeking a high‑calibre contractor to play a key role in shaping and delivering this program. This is a rare opportunity to sit between strategy and delivery, working closely with senior leadership while remaining hands‑on in driving meaningful safety outcomes. About the Opportunity In this role you will support the review, redesign, and implementation of critical elements of the organisation’s Safety Management System, helping to uplift capability and ensure alignment with legislative and regulatory standards. Working directly with a dedicated Safety Project Manager, you will: Lead the development and refinement of safety frameworks, policies and procedures Translate OHS legislation and regulatory requirements into practical operational solutions Drive the implementation of improved safety systems, assurance frameworks and controls Engage with stakeholders across the business to embed sustainable safety practices Support audit, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives About You You are a confident and capable safety professional who brings: Proven experience as a Senior Safety Advisor / WHS professional within government, utilities or infrastructure environments Strong working knowledge of OHS legislation, compliance frameworks and ISO‑aligned safety systems (e.g. ISO45001) Demonstrated success in developing or improving Safety Management Systems (SMS) The ability to engage, influence and build trust with stakeholders across all levels Experience in risk management, audits, incident investigations and assurance practices Strong written capability, particularly in developing policies, procedures and system documentation Why Apply Play a key role in a high‑impact government safety transformation program Work closely with senior leaders and project stakeholders Flexible hybrid working model (3 days in office) Competitive daily rate of $700+ (depending on experience) Opportunity to drive real, organisation‑wide safety improvements Desired Skills and Experience Safety Management Systems (SMS) development, review & implementation Strong knowledge of OHS/WHS legislation, compliance & regulatory frameworks Experience working within government, utilities, infrastructure or operational environments Proven ability to lead safety system uplift / transformation programs Stakeholder engagement & influencing across operational and corporate teams Risk management, hazard identification & critical risk control frameworks Safety audits, assurance programs & continuous improvement initiatives Development of policies, procedures and safety documentation Incident investigation (ICAM or similar methodologies) Familiarity with ISO45001 and certified safety systems Strong project coordination with the ability to balance strategy and delivery Data‑driven mindset with ability to analyse trends and improve safety performance EEO Statement ManpowerGroup is committed to being a Diversity Confident Recruiter and encourages applications from people from a diverse range of backgrounds, including people with a disability.
