Overview Financial Planning and Analysis Manager at Garvan Institute of Medical Research. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager will lead the FP&A team to provide business support to the whole Institute. Salary : Up to A$150,000 per year + 12% super + salary packaging (depending on experience) Employment Type : Permanent full-time Salary basis and benefits Snapshot of benefits Generous salary packaging to save income tax on wages (max. $15,900 general expenses + $2,650 meals/accommodation) Ample opportunities for ongoing training and development Stimulating, diverse and international research environment Flexible work arrangements (start/finish times) 18 weeks paid parental leave for both parents including paid superannuation Additional leave types including cultural, conference, community service and study leave Discounted health insurance Lifestyle discounts with community partners Responsibilities Lead a team of three Finance Partners and one Accountant, including performance monitoring Demonstrate leadership within the Finance team and across cross-functional teams Provide financial modelling expertise to support Finance Partners with complex scenarios and training to build capacity Lead the annual budgeting process with Operations Managers, Facility Managers, Program & Platform Leads and other people leaders Encourage driver-based budgeting, forecasting and scenario modelling aligned with Garvan's strategic objectives Identify opportunities to streamline and automate FP&A processes and drive transformation Prepare reports to analyse business performance and manage costs using BI and reporting tools Provide financial advice and model complex scenarios through detailed business cases Assess commercial contracts and advise on financial implications Liaise with internal and external auditors Support the Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer with ad hoc analysis Qualifications and experience CPA or CA qualified Experience leading a team At least 8 years of experience in complex financial environments with business partnering Strong analytical skillset and proficiency with BI and reporting tools Ability to model complex business cases Advanced financial modelling skills with robust and flexible models Strong ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights Collaborative attitude and ability to build relationships at all levels Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience in not-for-profit, research, university, or healthcare sector (desirable) Experience using Workday Financials and Adaptive Insights (desirable) About Garvan Garvan Institute of Medical Research is an independent Medical Research Institute (MRI) in Sydney, delivering scientific and clinical impact globally and in partnership with like-minded organisations.
