Kensington location, 15min lightrail to Central Full time Ongoing Opportunity Hybrid work model, some days in office and some days from home UNSW College is seeking an experienced, hands on Data Platform & Engineering Manager to lead the delivery, operation, and evolution of our enterprise data platform, including our Microsoft Fabric Implementation. Reporting to the Head of IT and leading a team, you will provide both technical leadership and strategic direction. In the early phase you will be hands on shaping architecture, modelling approaches, and engineering standards. Over time, the role evolves into a mature enterprise capability that underpins decision‑making, operations and AI across the College. About the Role As the Data Platform & Engineering Manager, you will: Lead the technical direction and continuous improvement of the enterprise data platform including the colleges Microsoft Fabric implementation Own the platform architecture, engineering standards, modelling approaches, and delivery practices Lead and develop the data engineering team within IT Own platform reliability, scalability, security, and operational resilience Partner with our Data Governance and Insights functions to enable trusted, accessible enterprise data Enable analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives through secure, scalable platform foundations Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on platform capability, investment and roadmap About You You're a technically credible and strategically minded leader who enjoys building platforms, capability, and teams in complex environments. You will bring: Demonstrated experience leading data engineering or data platform teams Strong hands on experience designing and operating modern cloud based data platforms Deep understanding of data architecture and data modelling practices Strong engineering leadership across standards, governance, and delivery quality Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills Proven ability to balance operational delivery with long term strategic planning Highly regarded: Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Purview, Azure cloud services, and Azure Data Factory Knowledge of Power BI and data visualisation best practices Exposure to AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics enablement Experience working within enterprise architecture environments Experience in higher education or another regulated sector Why Join Us?
