Our Energy Transition team within our Commercial Advisory and Transactions group advises corporates and governments on the energy and climate transition by providing commercial, financial, transaction and strategic advice to clients. Our team is embedded within the Infrastructure, Assets & Places group and is differentiated by our experience across all aspects of the energy infrastructure life cycle and connection with KPMG’s global decarbonisation hub. Full-time position. Forming part of the Energy Transition team, the Associate Director/Director position in Sydney will play a key role in building our Energy opportunities in the market and helping shape and lead our amazing team by: Responsibilities Bringing your market brand and energy sector experience to originate new opportunities, strengthening client relationships across strategic and financial investors, developers, large energy users, and hard-to-abate industrials. Leading the end-to-end execution of transactions across the full deal cycle, including deal structuring, equity and debt raising, financial modelling, and transaction negotiations. Delivering integrated strategic, commercial, and financial advice to support clients across their growth and transaction agendas, leveraging KPMG’s multidisciplinary teams to provide a seamless, end-to-end advisory experience. Bringing your demonstrated leadership skills and ability to build and nurture a positive, collaborative team culture. About our clients and work This role forms part of a dedicated Sydney-based team advising private sector clients across the energy transition as they navigate growth, decarbonisation, and transaction opportunities. Our focus spans the full energy value chain, including generation, storage, midstream infrastructure, retail, and offtake markets. Qualifications A strong passion for the energy transition, climate change, and decarbonisation. Extensive experience in M&A and project finance advisory and a deep knowledge of the energy market fundamentals, relevant technologies, supply chains, and policy and regulatory frameworks, as well as general project development challenges and opportunities. Proven experience in a transaction role within an advisory environment, with the ability to operate independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional workstreams and broader stakeholders across engagements. Demonstrated strong proficiency in engagement delivery, consistently producing high‑quality work underpinned by professional integrity and adherence to KPMG’s ethical standards.
