Swan Valley Anglican Community School is seeking an experienced and values‑driven Deputy Head of Primary (Student Wellbeing) to join our Senior Leadership Team and lead the pastoral life of our Primary School from Pre‑Kindergarten to Year 6. About the Role This is a 0.8 FTE senior leadership position with a 0.2 FTE teaching component , reporting directly to the Head of Primary. The Deputy Head of Primary (Student Wellbeing) plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child is known, valued, and supported to flourish. Working closely with the Head of Primary and the Deputy Head of Primary (Teaching and Learning), this role provides both strategic and operational leadership across student wellbeing, behaviour, engagement, and pastoral care. The position also works collaboratively with School Psychologists, the Chaplain, and the Secondary Leadership Team to ensure a smooth and developmentally appropriate transition from Year 6 to Year 7 within our PK–12 context. You will lead and mentor Primary Heads of Year and staff, shaping a positive school culture that reflects strong Anglican values, evidence‑based practice, and a genuine commitment to student safety and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic & educational leadership focused on student wellbeing across PK–6 Lead and implement positive behaviour, wellbeing, inclusion, and child‑safe practices Foster a culture of belonging, resilience, gratitude, optimism, and aspiration Mentor and support Heads of Year and teaching staff in pastoral care and student management Partner with families and external professionals to support student wellbeing Liaise closely with School Psychologists, Chaplain, and wellbeing teams Monitor student attendance and promote strong engagement with school life Oversee Primary student leadership initiatives, co-curricular programs, and camps Coordinate wellbeing‑related events including incursions, chapels, assemblies, discos, and buddy programmes Lead clear and timely communication with families regarding student wellbeing Represent the Primary School at assemblies, worship, and community events Contribute to strategic planning, staff meetings, and whole‑school improvement initiatives About You A Bachelor of Education (or equivalent) and current TRBWA registration Proven leadership experience in student wellbeing and pastoral care High technological literacy and data‑informed decision‑making skills A collaborative, inclusive leadership style aligned with Anglican values Postgraduate qualifications in Educational Leadership (Desirable) Why Join Us?
