Financial Accountant - CAF Rail Australia Trust in Motion. Location: SYDNEY, AU We are currently seeking a Financial Accountant, based in Sydney CBD. The role will assist the Finance Manager and Controller in keeping and providing financial information to the Directors and Managers of the Departments (Management Team). GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assemble journal entries and supporting documentation as well as track the detail of accounts, create portions of financial statements and write related disclosures. Lead account bookkeeping, analysis and reconciliations within established timelines. Research account discrepancies and processing corrections when necessary. Maintain and prepare a list of monthly journal entries. Maintain detailed listings of the contents of various balance sheet accounts. Post monthly, quarterly and year end annual accruals. Lead the Accounts Receivable area. Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with AASB and compliance to internal policies. Lead month end reporting activities to Parent Company and Area Managers. Assist with the year-end Financial Audit procedures and Tax Audits. Assist in the production of Financial Statements. Assist in writing footnotes to the financial statements. Assist with the compliance of local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, including payroll Tax, BAS, CIT. Develop ownership over the tax journals and balances in collaboration with the Tax advisors. Perform other job related activities and special projects as assigned by the Finance Manager or Controller. PROFILE A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university From five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience in a medium sized International entity. Big 4 experience preferred from 2 to 4 years. Understanding oral and written Spanish highly desirable but not required QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS Accounting and AASB rules Attention to detail Thoroughness Financial software – Experience with SAP® and BAAN® a plus (Finance Modules) Strong Microsoft Office® skills particularly with Microsoft Excel® Ability to work in both team and independently environment. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and thrive in a fast‑paced, high performance work environment. Ability to prepare reports objectively, concisely and clearly and describe the work performed to enhance the report’s usefulness.
