Head of Department (Curriculum) Gladstone Central State School is seeking a Head of Department (Curriculum) to join the team. The role would suit an experienced educator with strong instructional leadership capability, experience in curriculum and pedagogy, and a commitment to working in a high-performance team environment. Responsibilities Embed socially just practices in daily school life. Set high standards for student and staff performance. Engage in lifelong learning and professional development. Build partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups. Be future-oriented and strategic. Understand legislation and policies impacting on the school department, students and staff. Manage the human, financial, facilities and other school resources to achieve goals. Manage staff, timetabling, resources and school operations to enable effective teaching, learning and wellbeing practices across classes and supported programs. Must-Have Skills and Experience Current Queensland teacher registration and eligibility for leadership roles. Demonstrated success in instructional leadership and improving student outcomes. Strong knowledge of Science of Reading. Strong knowledge of inclusive education and differentiation strategies. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Capacity to lead change and foster a collaborative team culture. Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience Strong understanding of Science of Learning Strong understanding of the Numeracy P-12 informing paper and associated research Familiarity with digital tools including AI.
