About the role This role is a 5 month maternity leave cover position As Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in assisting in providing legal and commercial advice and support to the business in Australia, UK, South Africa and Canada. In addition, you will support the management team in achieving its corporate goals and ensuring that the business operates in accordance with relevant laws and that contractual and commercial risk is minimised. You will work closely with the sales team in negotiating key contracts with clients, and with central business functions in negotiating agreements with suppliers. Responsibilities Assist in providing legal and commercial advice and support to the business in Australia, UK, South Africa and Canada Support the management team in achieving its corporate goals and ensuring the business operates in accordance with relevant laws and that contractual and commercial risk is minimised Work closely with the sales team in negotiating key contracts with clients, and with central business functions in negotiating agreements with suppliers Provide highly effective and timely legal advice to business managers in relation to general commercial contracts Identify and manage legal risks in the context of the overall commercial plans of the business Draft, negotiate, amend and review a wide range of legal documents including master services agreements, software licences, support and maintenance agreements, consultancy and confidentiality agreements Assist with managing the intellectual property portfolios including trademarks and intra‑group arrangements Qualifications Fully qualified solicitor 4+ years PQE (or equivalent experience) In‑house experience preferred but not essential Accurate technical legal advice Strong negotiation skills Commercial acumen Excellent free‑hand drafting skills Benefits 8 additional paid days per year to extend your weekends Hybrid working Generous cash bonus for every successful referral Starting school leave – 8.5 days of leave to assist your children with the transition to school Up to 26 weeks’ paid parental leave (primary carers, up to 4 weeks for secondary carers), and the ability to work part‑time when returning to work 3 days' paid leave per year to participate in charity initiatives Discounted health insurance premiums Gym membership discounts Access to learning and development programs through LinkedIn Learning Equal Opportunity and Inclusion Iress is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive culture.
