The Role Managing a team of HSE Advisors, the HSE Manager has overall responsibility to lead safety across a significant high-risk business unit, with the exciting challenge and opportunity to transform the safety culture. Key Focus Areas & Accountabilities Strategic HSE Leadership: Move the dial from tactical to strategic, building quick credibility with operations by visibly addressing "low hanging fruit". Stakeholder Management: Partner with and support the business unit's General Manager and senior leadership team (you'll sit at this table). Team Development: Lead and coach a team of HSE Advisors to ensure they are a high-performing, proactive team, strengthening safety leadership capability across the business line. Critical Risk Management: Partner with operational leaders to execute the critical risk program, including assurance planning and verification of controls. Delivery Partner Engagement: Implement best practices in the 5 stages of contractor management , aligning safety frameworks, procedures, and assurance activities with delivery partners. Governance & Insights: Translate data and assurance findings into concise, actionable insights for leadership and governance forums. Experience & Qualifications To be successfully shortlisted for the position, we are seeking: Proven leadership managing HSE teams in complex operational environments. Strong HSE technical knowledge gained within the power industry. Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating critical safety risks. Advanced incident investigation skills, including root cause analysis. Skills in contractor safety obligations, including principal contractor relationships. Minimum Certificate IV in WHS ; however a Diploma or Masters in WHS is preferred. Required: Current Driver’s license. This role will require regular travel to sites across Victoria.
