In this role, you will provide essential technical support and engineering expertise to help navigate the complexities of modern railway technology. You will work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver technical solutions that are safe, reliable, and aligned with our clients' needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a practitioner looking to deepen their technical consulting skills while contributing to high-profile infrastructure projects under the guidance of industry experts.Apply systems engineering processes to guarantee strict alignment with applicable rail safety standards. Capture and maintain fully traceable safety-critical requirements using DOORS, DOORS Next Gen, or equivalent software tools. Derive system architectures and functional requirements directly from client needs to guarantee safe, reliable, and compliant operational outcomes. Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces across signalling, telecommunications, and power subsystems to eliminate integration hazards and operational conflicts. Execute rigorous Verification & Validation (V&V) plans to prove that all system safety requirements are fully met. Lead and support hazard workshops, RAM analyses, and FMEA/FMECA processes to mitigate systemic and operational risks. Monitor project progress and deliverables against strict safety schedules to provide accurate assurance status updates. Produce high-quality technical documentation, including safety cases, hazard logs, and compliance arguments. Embed safety assurance methodologies and technical risk evaluations into tenders and project bid responses. Share safety-first knowledge across the team while applying innovative approaches to resolve complex assurance challenges. About You Extensive experience in an engineering or consulting environment, with a focus on systems engineering. Experience within the railway sector or a similar highly regulated industry (e.g., Defence, Aerospace, or Energy). Practical understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and experience with requirements management tools. Familiarity with V&V processes and an interest in safety assurance and risk assessment methodologies. A proven ability to manage individual tasks effectively, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of quality. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders. A proactive team player who is eager to learn from senior mentors and contribute to a positive team culture. A degree in Engineering or a related technical field. Chartered status (CPEng) and/or INCOSE certification (ASEP/CSEP) is highly regarded, but not mandatory. Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach to solving technical challenges.
