Role Overview The Editing Performance team is responsible for making the Canva Editor lightning fast. The focus is on page load, latency, dropped frames, memory usage, and overall perceived speed across all platforms and devices. Team Structure You will lead a team of about 7 engineers (mid to senior level), working on performance improvements and new feature launches. Responsibilities Coach, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, developing coaching capability to meet the growing editing vision. Work with the technical lead to solve ambitious technical problems and guide the team to deliver results. Collaborate with the Product Manager to understand and contribute to the product roadmap. Drive planning and refinement of seasonal goals, ensuring alignment across company, group, and teams. Foster a culture of collaboration and advocate for engineering needs of non‑technical collaborators. Own and drive delivery of large, cross‑team and cross‑group initiatives and projects from ideation to completion, exercising autonomy and independent decision‑making. Qualifications Previous experience in technical people leadership or mentorship of engineers. Commercial experience in a software development environment, ideally building frameworks, libraries, or APIs. Experience with front‑end technologies including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, and TypeScript is valuable but not required. Strong communication skills and collaborative experience with team members.
