We are seeking a high‑caliber, commercially minded business development professional to help expand our presence in Australia. This is a slightly more senior opportunity suited to someone with a strong grounding in the institutional client market, a proactive approach to relationship development, and the confidence to represent the firm in a client‑facing capacity. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership to independently drive business development activity across institutional clients, build and manage a pipeline of opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to client strategy, account development and sales execution. The role is based in Melbourne and follows a hybrid work model. Responsibilities Drive business development activity and originate opportunities: develop a strong understanding of the firm’s product capabilities and value proposition, proactively identify prospects, and independently schedule and lead meetings with institutional clients to generate new business opportunities. Manage pipeline and client development: build, maintain and advance a sales pipeline, develop account plans and coordinate follow‑up activity to progress opportunities through to mandate conversion. Lead and tailor pitch materials: coordinate and help shape presentations, meeting materials and marketing content to support institutional client engagement and sales outcomes. Own sales reporting and CRM discipline: maintain accurate pipeline and client records in Salesforce, monitor activity and opportunity progression, and produce high‑quality sales reporting for management. Oversee RFP and proposal coordination: partner across sales, RFP, product and investment teams to coordinate timely, accurate and client‑focused responses that support new business conversion. Support relationship management and market coverage: maintain regular contact with institutional clients, prospects, consultants and key external stakeholders, while identifying opportunities to deepen engagement and broaden institutional market coverage. Coordinate cross‑functional execution: work effectively with internal stakeholders across regional and global teams to deliver a high standard of client service and commercial execution. Represent the business professionally: participate in institutional client meetings, industry events and internal forums as a credible representative of the firm and its investment capabilities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related discipline. Approximately 7+ years of relevant experience within the asset management industry, with meaningful exposure to institutional client coverage or institutional business development. Demonstrated ability to independently originate, manage and advance business development opportunities with limited supervision. Strong knowledge of global capital markets, investment products and the institutional asset management landscape in Australia. Existing relationships within the Australian institutional investment community are highly advantageous. Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with Morningstar and Salesforce is highly regarded. Strong analytical, research and presentation skills, with the ability to translate investment insights into client‑ready materials. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the confidence to engage credibly with senior internal and external stakeholders. Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple workstreams in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across a lean, high‑performing, client‑centric team. Strong commercial judgment, ownership mindset and the maturity to take initiative and drive outcomes. Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to prioritize effectively and deliver under pressure. Experience in product development, investment marketing, consultant coverage or fund‑level analysis within asset management is a plus.
