Our client, Punjab Australia Pty Ltd is a farm in regional NSW that grows blueberries, raspberries and blackberries of different varieties and aims to provide our customers with fresh and quality produce.
Tasks:
• Plan and coordinate the cultivation and harvesting of blueberries, raspberries and blackberries across different varieties, considering seasonal conditions, soil quality and market demand.
• Select suitable varieties and manage planting activities including seedlings and propagation to ensure consistent yield and quality.
• Monitor and maintain crop health through pruning, de budding and canopy management, ensuring optimal growth conditions for each berry type.
• Oversee day to day farm operations including harvesting, grading, packing and cold storage to maintain freshness and meet quality standards.
• Coordinate the handling, storage and dispatch of produce, and liaise with buyers and distributors to meet supply timelines.
• Manage fertilisation programs, irrigation schedules and pest and disease control specific to berry crops.
• Maintain farm infrastructure, including irrigation systems, netting, fencing, machinery and storage facilities.
• Keep accurate records of crop yields, spray programs, harvest volumes and sales, and adjust production plans based on market trends and contract requirements.
• Manage farm finances including budgeting, input costs, labour expenses and coordination with accountants for taxation and reporting.
• Supervise and train farm workers and contractors during planting, maintenance and peak harvest periods.
• Implement climate risk strategies such as frost protection, heat management and water conservation to protect berry crops.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including safe handling of chemicals, equipment and field operations.
Eligibility:
• Have at least relevant AQF Cert III or Cert IV qualifications and Have 2 Years of working experience in a similar role in a farm setting. or equivalent or 3 years of employment experience with formal training OR 5 years of experience without formal training.
• Strong understanding of agricultural production processes.
• Attention to detail and quick decision-making to address quality issues, equipment failures, and operational challenges.
• Proficiency in quality control and adherence to standards.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to coordinate with various departments and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Possess a keen eye for detail to oversee product quality.
• Strong organizational skills are also essential for managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Salary range: $75000-$85000
