Contact information: Henry To – ; Zeng Yap – ; Surgical Admin Team – About the Opportunity General Surgery – This role is part of an accredited training rotation for the RACS General Surgery program and currently has two SET trainees allocated by General Surgery Australia. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract (Feb 2027 – Feb 2028). The position supports the General Surgery Unit by assisting with emergency assessment and management, pre‑ and post‑operative care, attending operating lists, running outpatient clinics, and managing planning meetings and audit requirements. Core Responsibilities • Provide high‑quality clinical care under the supervision of consultant general surgeons. • Participate in after‑hours (evenings), weekend and night registrar rosters. • Support clinical duties including emergency assessment, pre‑ and postoperative care, attendance at operating lists, outpatient clinic management, audit and planning meetings. • Mentor, engage in research projects, and contribute to CV building toward a training position. Qualifications and Experience A current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA). Provisional registration will not be accepted. Candidates must be Australian or registered international graduates with prior completion of all required components (including Part 1 & 2 clinical examinations). A high standard of written and verbal English communication skills is required. Applicants should have at least PGY3 or above experience in general surgery as a Senior Resident or Registrar in an Australian/NewZealand hospital or equivalent. Essential Selection Criteria Experience in urology/general surgery as an HMO/Registrar in Australia (or equivalent) with strengths in surgical management. General registration in Australia with AHPRA and prior completion of all components (Part 1 and 2 clinical examinations). Demonstrates independence in surgical management. Strong communication and professional skills toward other employees. Availability for 12 months. Desirable Selection Criteria Skills in quality assurance, audit, and teaching.
