This opportunity offers experienced defendant insurance lawyers the chance to work much more closely with insurers and underwriters on the strategic management of complex liability claims. Sitting somewhere between private practice and in-house, the role combines sophisticated advisory and litigation work without the traditional law firm structure sitting over the top. Rather than focusing heavily on billables and file volume, the role involves early strategic input, coverage advice, claims management and oversight of litigated matters across a portfolio of complex claims. The role You will work across a portfolio of professional indemnity and related liability matters with significant direct insurer engagement. The work will include: Defending professional negligence and liability claims Coverage advice and policy interpretation Early strategic claims input and reserving discussions Oversight and management of litigated matters Direct engagement with insurers, underwriters and insureds The matters span a broad range of industries including construction, engineering, financial services, property and technology. Who this will suit You are likely an experienced defendant insurance lawyer with approximately 4–10 years’ PAE and strong technical capability across professional indemnity or related liability matters. You will bring: Defendant insurance litigation experience Strong strategic and analytical judgment Confidence engaging directly with insurer clients The ability to manage matters autonomously This role will particularly suit lawyers who enjoy the advisory and strategic side of insurance work as much as the litigation itself.
