Overview This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team to provide crisis psychosocial support as well as ongoing counselling to children who have experienced sexual abuse and adults who have experienced sexual assault, as well as adult survivors of child sexual abuse. The role also extends to supporting children 10 years of age who display problematic or harmful sexual behaviours and their families. Allied Health Professional (Level 3): $2,240.23 - $2,312.83. Where you'll be working Royal North Shore Community Health Centre. What you'll be doing The Sexual Assault Counsellor is responsible for the provision of integrated counselling and case management services to children, young persons and adults who are victims of sexual assault and their non-offending family members, including the provision of crisis counselling and support, and facilitation of forensic/medical services as required, as well as services to children under ten with problematic harmful sexual behaviours. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply. Qualifications & Requirements Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: Full registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist who has completed 9 years of service as a minimum, or tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and post graduate experience at a minimum of level 2 or above. Applicants must be female – under Section 31 (2) (h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Extensive specialist knowledge of child protection, the dynamics and impacts of sexual assault and relevant legal processes. Extensive post graduate experience in crisis intervention, case management and client‑centred advocacy and counselling intervention using trauma frameworks. Experience working in multidisciplinary teams. This is a NSW Health Category A position which requires immunisation and screening for certain diseases.
