My client is a respected and growing Australian not‑for‑profit funding high‑impact spinal cord injury research. They are seeking a Research Portfolio Manager to bring structure, coordination, and momentum to this critical work. The Opportunity Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Scientific Advisory Panel, you will manage the day‑to‑day coordination of the research portfolio. You’ll ensure projects are well‑governed, milestones and budgets are tracked, reporting is clear, and relationships with researchers and institutions are productive and professional. In addition, you will oversee research‑related communications and social media content, ensuring scientific updates are translated accurately and appropriately for external audiences. The role is primarily work‑from‑home, with a fortnightly (Monday) in‑person management meeting. Candidates must be Sydney‑based. The two days can be spread across the week as preferred. What You’ll Be Doing Managing research projects from funding approval through to reporting Coordinating agreements, budgets, milestones, and governance processes Acting as a key point of contact for funded researchers and institutions Supporting grant rounds, panel meetings, and research events Preparing clear reports and updates for the CEO and governance bodies Managing research‑related social media and working with Communications to share research progress appropriately Translating scientific updates into accessible content for stakeholders Supporting the delivery of the organisation’s research strategy About You You’re likely to succeed if you bring: Experience in medical research, research administration, or a related environment Strong project management, coordination, and organisational skills Confidence working with senior academics, scientists, and Boards Excellent written communication and attention to detail The ability to understand research concepts and communicate them clearly to non‑technical audiences A flexible, pragmatic approach suited to a small, purpose‑driven organisation Experience with research governance, funding bodies, universities, or clinical environments will be highly regarded. Social media or digital communications experience within a research or health context will be advantageous. People with spinal cord injury are strongly encouraged to apply.
