The Role The Building Decommissioning Manager is responsible for the management and delivery of decommissioning works for the High Rise Towers and preparing the towers for redevelopment. The role requires a dynamic, flexible, experienced candidate with experience in all facets of project management, including coordinating procurement processes, managing budgets, people management, providing advice, and building strong stakeholder relationships to deliver key project outcomes. The Manager will also play a critical role in contributing to the redevelopment of the Towers, which includes but is not limited to future proofing the in‑ground services, contributing to the demolition works, reviewing the site plans, and providing expert opinion using local knowledge to avoid any business disruption to the neighbourhood. The Manager is responsible for the management of the announced Towers and for managing multiple contracts, engaging architects/fire engineers and specialist contractors to address decommissioning of critical assets. The role involves responsive maintenance of the announced towers, including after‑hour coordination of the works. Key Responsibilities The management of the towers includes but is not limited to: Coordination with contractors and local housing office to decommission engineering assets including boilers, generators, electrical switchboards and hydraulic systems. Coordination with program consultants and contractors to enhance security of the decanted sites to avoid future vandalism, squatting and anti‑social behaviour. Coordination with relocation team and redevelopment team, and providing updates on decommissioned units, including removal of bio‑hazardous materials and all live fixtures such as gas stoves and electrical equipment. Upkeep of the decommissioning budgets and forecasting to stakeholders. Ensuring all underground and above‑ground services are decommissioned safely to prevent impact on neighbouring developments. Coordinating with supply authorities to complete decommissioning of their assets amicably. Assisting in providing advice to stakeholders, and preparing and presenting reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on a range of matters. Accountabilities Contribute to the full life cycle of projects to meet departmental objectives, including: Assisting in research, analysis and implementation of projects based on defined outcomes and outputs. Supporting the development and delivery of projects or sub‑projects and ensuring their successful completion within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters. Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of projects to ensure departmental objectives are met. When responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensuring they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, government regulations and guidelines. Maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach.
