About the Opportunity The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) is looking for a full-time Director – Fisheries Development Division based in Honiara, Solomon Islands . Reporting to the Director-General through the Deputy Director-General, this executive leadership position is responsible for leading and supervising the Fisheries Development Division in delivering the FFA Strategic Plan and Annual Work Programme and Budget while supporting member countries in the sustainable development of their offshore fisheries. More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading and supervising the Fisheries Development Division in alignment with the Strategic Plan and Annual Work Programme Providing advice and support to FFA members in offshore fisheries development planning Delivering economic analysis, intelligence, and policy advice to support fisheries development outcomes Supporting market access, trade, investment evaluation, and investment facilitation initiatives Leading the implementation and management of donor-funded projects, including those funded by the EU, World Bank, Australia, and New Zealand Collaborating with other Divisions and regional organisations to deliver strategic development initiatives Providing advice and reports to the Executive, Forum Fisheries Committee, and other regional and international organisations on fisheries development matters Promoting regional cooperation and sustainable fisheries development across FFA member countries This appointment is made on a 3-year term and may be renewable for a further 3 years, subject to performance, availability of funds, and ongoing organisational requirements. About You To be considered for this position, you will have tertiary qualifications in Fisheries, Economics, Resource Management , or a related field, along with at least 10 years' experience in fisheries development, economics, investment, commercial fisheries operations, or a related field. Within this experience, you will have a minimum of 7 years' senior executive leadership and management experience at the national level in public service, regional or international organisations, or an equivalent private-sector environment. Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued: Experience working with oceanic fisheries in a regional context Proven ability to develop high-level economic policies and provide quality analysis Experience reporting to a broad range of stakeholders Strong understanding of fisheries development, trade, investment, and economic issues Relevant postgraduate qualifications Previous experience living and/or working in a remote or international location As our ideal candidate, you are a dynamic, highly motivated, and influential leader with strong strategic, analytical, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
