Garbutt State School is seeking a Head of Department‑Curriculum (identified) to join the team. As a Partnership Initiative school, the role of the Head of Department – Culture and Connection at Garbutt State School is to strengthen culturally responsive partnerships and practices that connect school, families, and community to improve engagement, belonging, and continuity of learning for all students. Responsibilities Co‑design and implement culturally responsive teaching and learning strategies that reflect the local community context, evidenced across the three levels of planning, pedagogical practices, and classroom artefacts. Co‑design and implement a Parent and Community Voice Group to foster authentic engagement in school decision‑making and build strong partnerships that support teaching, learning, and wellbeing priorities. Strengthen collaborative transition processes with early years providers and feeder high schools to support continuity of learning through visits, family engagement, and enrolment support. Establish effective sustainable systems for prioritising and monitoring our most at‑risk and vulnerable students.
